Emily spoke with Dana about her path, from growing up in Queens, New York and studying mechanical engineering at Dartmouth, to discovering energy markets during her time at EnerNOC and ultimately co-founding Voltus. Since then, the company has scaled to operate across every major power market, managing more than eight gigawatts of flexible capacity and supporting tens of thousands of customer sites.

Dana Guernsey is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Voltus, Inc., leading the company’s mission to unlock the full value of distributed energy resources (DERs) for a more affordable, resilient, and decarbonized electric grid. With nearly 20 years of experience in global energy markets, she has helped pioneer virtual power plants (VPPs), demand-side energy management products, and first-to-market innovations. At Voltus, Dana previously served as Chief Product Officer, scaling the company into the largest DER aggregator in North America. Earlier in her career, she led demand response portfolio management at EnerNOC and helped advance commercialization strategies for Ambri, a long-duration battery storage company. Dana lives in Boulder, Colorado.
